The Tome of Strahd is an ancient work penned by Strahd, a tragic tale of how he came to his fallen state. The book is bound in a thick leather cover with steel hinges and fastenings. The pages are of parchment and very brittle. Most of the book is written in the curious shorthand that only Strahd employs.
The book is a diary, personal ledger, and workbook of Strahd’s life and unlife. The last entry was dated about 200 years ago. It includes all of the spells he knows scattered throughout its pages. A Wizard may copy these into their spellbook if they have the supplies to do so or they may cast them directly from the Tome as if from a Magical Scroll. The spell disappears from the Tome if it’s used in this manner.
About 400 years ago, He became a vampire.
Tatyana is perpetually reincarnated in Barovia.
200 years ago, Strahd began hibernating out of existential boredom between Tatyana’s iterations. Only waking on her birthday.
He awakes with the sole purpose of possessing her.
Groundhog’s Day for him.
He knows the Consorts prefer him in hibernation but do everything to stay in his good graces while he’s awake.
Goals
Cyclical purging of Consorts will happen soon. Find replacements.
Stop the Dark Power from consuming all souls in Barovia. No soul means no nourishment for vampires.
Get Ireena to come to him willingly.
Spell book:
1st level: comprehend languages, fog cloud, sleep
2nd level: detect thoughts, gust of wind, mirror image
3rd level: animate dead, fireball, nondetection
4th level: blight, greater invisibility, polymorph
5th level: animate objects, scrying

Most of it reads like an angsty goth teenager's diary, replete with poetry of unrequited love and a general nihilistic outlook of the world. Many parts are written in blood with infernal and arcane symbols drawn in the margins.
Periodically throughout the text he considers destroying the Tome, but refrains, believing that his experiences must be preserved. Even vampires care about their legacies. He has also stated that he would have to destroy anybody who even knew about the Tome.
If Strahd finds out you have the book, then he'll want to destroy you immediately. It can also be used as bait to guarantee that Strahd will stick around for the final battle. He'll probably focus on the person possessing Tome and fight irrationally.
The Phylactery of Strahd:
In the north tower of Ravenloft Castle is the Heart of Sorrow, a 10-foot-diameter red crystal heart that floats near the top of the tower. The Heart and Strahd must be destroyed.
The password to Strahd's treasure vault is Yrral Eromle
